One-Third of People Text Naked Pictures of Themselves
Submitted by MR Sidepart on December 3, 2009 - 8:03pm
Is your kid sexting? MTV would suggest that about a third of folks between the ages of 14-24 do! I wouldn't say that these kinds of results are anything but garbage in the first place, so don't overreact if you are a parent. It is an interesting thought though, as the idea of "sexting" seems to be catching on.
Someone's Using a Newer Than New iPhone
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 30, 2009 - 12:24pmA new iPhone model identifier, iPhone 3,1, has been found in the analytics of iBART-- a transportation application for the Bay Area of San Francisco. Could this be a prelude to a new iPhone in the works for the summer of 2010? Maybe the iPhone 4G? Even though AT&T doesn’t have a 4G network that I know of. It may just be smoke and mirrors but MacRumors is quick to point out that the last time this happened, they ended up releasing the iPhone 3GS—which was detected as iPhone2,1. Maybe I’ll become more interested if it has a tactile keyboard and the ability to multi-task.
Paper Thin Batteries Made out of Nasty Green Algae
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 30, 2009 - 12:02pm
Battery technology may be in for an upgrade, finally, and it’s likely to come from nasty algae. It could be the biggest development since the Lithium Polymer battery, although it isn’t likely to replace the technology. This is a little frustrating since our portable electronics are becoming more powerful while our batteries aren’t lasting any longer. There are some worthy advantages here though.
ATI Radeon HD 5970: Finally Something Good From ATI
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 19, 2009 - 9:44amIf you're like me, you haven't had too much interested with what ATI has had to offer since AMD bought them out. My last ATI card was an All-in-Wonder x800XT, that's an AGP card by the way. I've felt that ATI has been a sinking ship, and many have been quick disagree with me on this. I think the ATI Radeon HD 5970 is about to change my mind here. The card is incredibly fast and it blows the 3DMark Vantage benchmark out of the water.
Sprint Has an Android 1.5 Update for the Hero Coming Soon
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 19, 2009 - 9:25amIn a post on the Sprint Community forums, a Sprint Admin has stated that a, "Maintenance release is being developed for the Hero..." There's not too much information beyond that. The update should fix the SMS issue that can drain the Hero's battery. It should also correct a DST problem. Expect the release to be within a few weeks here. This won't be an OS update since HTC is still working out the kinks for the Sense UI on Android 2.0.
First Step to Smartphone Flash! Adobe Releases Flash 10.1 Beta (and Air 2.0)
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 17, 2009 - 9:50am
Hold up! It's not released for smart-phones yet! Especially if your smart-phone is an iPhone (hah!). The first steps have been taken however, and the Adobe Flash 10.1 beta is now out for Windows desktops. I of course went nuts about this back in October, and it's finally here.
Windows Mobile App Store Finally Comes to WinMo 6.x Devices
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 17, 2009 - 9:35amWindows Mobile 6.5 is kind of janky, and the chances are that your phone probably hasn't been updated with this horrible version of the OS. No worries, Microsoft finally has you covered. They've opened up their App Market to WinMo 6.0 and 6.1 now as well.
Are You Deaf? Or is Moto Droid Speaker Just Not Working?
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 17, 2009 - 9:22amThe Droid has quickly become a run away success with early estimates of sales ranging into the hundreds of thousands. With that we're starting to see the reports come in with technical problems related to the new phone. One of them in particular involves the speaker on the phone. I hope no one was late for work today because of this!
Tethering the Sprint HTC Hero with Windows (Guide)
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 11, 2009 - 3:25pm
A little while ago we posted an article that mentioned that the Sprint HTC Hero could be tethered using Windows. Here's a guide that shows how to actually do this so people don't have head over to the linked thread.
Device Lets You Shoot Flames Out of Your HAND!
Submitted by MR Sidepart on November 9, 2009 - 4:10pmI've always kind of wanted to be able to do a Hadouken to some douche-bag's face before. It seems like the Prometheus Device is just the tool for such an endeavor. Now I know a wrist mounted flame thrower SEEMS like a bad idea, but really you just have to ask yourself how badass you're willing to look at the cost of potentially burning off your entire arm.
