ATI Radeon HD 5970: Finally Something Good From ATI
If you're like me, you haven't had too much interested with what ATI has had to offer since AMD bought them out. My last ATI card was an All-in-Wonder x800XT, that's an AGP card by the way. I've felt that ATI has been a sinking ship, and many have been quick disagree with me on this. I think the ATI Radeon HD 5970 is about to change my mind here. The card is incredibly fast and it blows the 3DMark Vantage benchmark out of the water.
MaximumPC was one of the first to benchmark the new card. You should really check out their review, it's gives quite a bit of useful information about the card and isn't overly technical. The card itself is the first DirectX 11 card to sport dual-GPUs. Noise has been one of my main concerns with ATI cards, and it seems that this card is pretty quite. It will make noise when under load of course, but otherwise it shouldn't be a huge deal to leave your PC on over night. The card is HUGE though, if you purchase the card, be sure that it'll fit into your case.
Expect a $600 MSRP cost for this beast when it comes out (we're not sure when yet).
