First Step to Smartphone Flash! Adobe Releases Flash 10.1 Beta (and Air 2.0)

Hold up! It's not released for smart-phones yet! Especially if your smart-phone is an iPhone (hah!). The first steps have been taken however, and the Adobe Flash 10.1 beta is now out for Windows desktops. I of course went nuts about this back in October, and it's finally here.
What's this mean? Well it Adobe Flash 10.1 is focused on taking the load off of your CPU and utilizing more of your GPU (that's the processor on your video card). This results in smoother play back and offers the ability to play content with higher resolution. In English this means that the craptastic playback you may have while watching Hulu or YouTube in HD will be improved upon.
Additionally what's exciting about this update is that the plug-in will eventually become available to smart-phones. This includes WinMo, Plam WebOS, Android and the Symbian OS. Adobe will also be working with RIM to add support to Blackberries as well. This means that if you are the proud owner of one of these toys, you'll finally be able to access any and all flash content on your phone! It'll open up the possibilities when it comes to games and viewing video content on your phone. What's not so exciting is that it won't come to the iPhone.
The beta for smart-phones isn't expected until sometime in mid-2010. Patience is of course a virtue. Although, I'm starting to wish that my phone had a tactile keyboard for all of those Flash games I'll be able to access.
